The best LGTBIQ+-themed cinema can be seen from this Friday, November 8, as part of the 4th edition of Endimaris Sitges. For 10 days, a total of 20 feature films and a total of 18 short films will be screened at the Cinema Prado, which will be part of the official competition section. As a novelty, this year Endimaris has stopped being a film festival to become a festival. In addition, for the first time it also includes an official competition section of short films.

The film ‘¿Quién quiere casarse con un astronauta?’ by director and producer David Matamoros will open Endimaris Sitges this Friday. It is a romantic comedy starring David, who plans his wedding in Las Vegas. When he has everything ready, his partner rejects him and he only has 10 days to find someone to marry.

The world premiere of this film will be held in Sitges and will feature the director, accompanied by actors Raúl Tejón and Sabrina Praga and also by producer Ángeles Hernández.

The closing film of Endimaris Sitges will be ‘Emilia Pérez’ by director Jacques Audiard, which is France’s Oscar nominee. Karla Sofia Gascón, one of the film’s protagonists, has become the first trans actress to win the award for best performance at the Cannes Film Festival.

The competition’s programming will feature Spanish productions and co-productions, such as ‘La Mitad de Ana’ directed by Marta Nieto, ‘Los Amantes Astronautas’ by Marco Berger, ‘Luces Azules’ by Lucas Santa Ana and ‘Reir, cantar, tal vez llorar’ by Marc Ferrer. But a selection of international productions will also be screened, such as ‘Barber’ an Irish production directed by Fintan Connolly and starring Aidan Gillen (‘Queer as folk UK’, ‘Game of Thrones’). ‘Drift’ is a British production by Anthony Chen and starring Cynthia Erivo (‘Wicked’, ‘Viudas’). Korean cinema will also be represented with ‘The summer’ an animated production by Han Ji-won and the romantic ‘No Heaven, but Love’ by Han Jay.

The program will also include the documentary directed by Enrique del Pozo and entitled ‘El Muro Rosa’. This work recovers the historical memory of the Spanish LGTBIQ+ community and also features the participation of Jordi Griset.
